Jerez de la Frontera travel tips
The local bars in Jerez are called tabancos. These are the places where you can taste different types of sherry (it is a traditional fortified white wine). Among the best places are Tabanco El Pasaje on Calle Sta. María, 8. Waiters are glad to help you to choose sherry. And if you want to observe bright and passionate flamenco, it is better to book a table at 14:00 or 21:30, when dancers start their performance.
Natural Reserve Laguna de Medina is the second-largest lagoon in Andalusia. Surrounded by amazing plants, it also hosts interesting animal species, like Montagu's harriers, common buzzards and red kites; and you can easily feed them (but only by buying special food). To get there, take the bus A381 from Jerez towards Medina Sidonia, and the Laguna de Medina is on the left-hand side of the road at 10 kilometres.
Travelling in Jerez-de-la-Frontera, you will hear a million times about sherry. But it has one more interesting drink — mosto. It is a very young alcoholic grape drink taken out of the barrel just after the fermentation process has started. You can try mosto in Mesón Rociero Fragua 4 cafe.
