Santa Cruz de La Palma travel tips
The Old Town of Santa Cruz is a scenic spot for Instagram photoshoots. The streets are lined up with buildings designed in stately colonial style with balconies full of multicoloured flowers. It is a peaceful place to stroll and find the Insular Museum and the Chico and Circo de Marte theatres. Take pictures and enjoy local food and beverages in cafés and restaurants in the Old Town of Santa Cruz.
While wandering along Calle O’Daly you can find a striking historic building where the town council is placed. It's situated to the south of Plaza de Espana. This imposing ayuntamiento — the Spanish word that stands for town council — was rebuilt in 1559 because the French pirates destroyed the original. The Town Council operates from 09:00 to 14:00 on weekdays and is off on weekends.
Get some R&R at the Bar Parada. Here, you can treat yourself to cold and hot beverages and almond biscuits at a reasonable price. You can also find local products and souvenirs.
